Once a site has been contained and assessed, then an effective remedial strategy can be implemented.
Extracting contaminated material from the site:
OLM use a network of experienced sub-contractors across the UK that are monitored and validated to make sure that OLM can provide an expert excavation service that is both efficient and cost effective. Perhaps the most important part of this work is making sure that material removed from site for licensed disposal, is sufficiently contaminated because disposing of contaminated waste is expensive and there may be other options available to complete a successful remediation.
Licensed waste disposals:
OLM provide a full licensed waste disposal service, utilising local licensed waste disposal companies to make sure the service is competitive on price.
It is never possible to remove or recover every drop of fuel from a contaminated site and so there must be a balance between removing contaminated materials and working with the residual contamination that remains.
OLM have found that in most cases a successful remedial strategy is about striking the right balance between extraction and in-situ treatment
The objective is to reduce the site risks arising from the residual contamination to an acceptable level of risk.
To achieve this there are options that provide for the in-situ treatment of residual contamination on a site. Indeed, it is sometimes more cost effective and practical to treat contamination in-situ, rather than to extract it. A treatment product is selected appropriate to the site conditions, along with an appropriate delivery system. There is never ‘one solution fits all’.
